"I do not pretend to understand the moral universe; the arc is a long one, my eye reaches but little ways; I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by the experience of sight; I can divine it by conscience. And from what I see I am sure it bends towards justice." Theodore Parker

White Privilege Conference
I returned from the WPC 13 in Albuquerque last week, and it was again, tremendously thought-provoking. I wrote this essay, "Some thoughts from a white first time attendee of the White Privilege Conference for other white attendees," last year and would like to share it with you. WPC14 will be in Seattle next year, April 10-13, 2013 and will continue to develop its exploration of socially just parenting. Please consider joining the discussion.

This is quite refreshing. Thanks. Reposting.
I am so grateful to have found this site! A group of parents at my son's school (a new school in its first year) are starting a social equity and racial healing group that we would like to use to address some of the "unintentional" discrimination that is going on with some of the kids at school (African American and Latino kids being sent to the office for behaviors that white kids also exhibit.) The administration and staff pride themselves on their dedication to diversity while using suspension, physical restraining of kids, and language that confuse and demoralize the children (these are K, 1st and 2nd graders.) Wish us luck! I look forward to attending the conference in August!
